- 'Free Semester Career Exploration Camp'
- "With full implementation of Free Semester Program, we will provide career exploration program for students in rural areas and provide them a place for educational happiness to foster their dream and talent" College of Education in SKKU held career exploration camp for two days, from 23 to 24 November. The main participants of this camp was middle school students in their first and second year. This career exploration camp was held by Ministry of Education to relieve educational and experiential difference between regions and to promote successful settlement of Free Semester program. SKKU can provide chances for students to fully explore their goals and future career with its human and physical resources. SKKU career exploration camp is unique in the fact that through experiencing Confucian culture and field trip to Myeongnyundang and Daeseongjeon, students can develop and experience 1) Personality education linked with traditional culture education, 2) Career exploration based on self-understanding, 3) Career aptitude test program through SKKU counseling center, and 4) Mentoring program with university students with diverse experience. Each student can discover their charateristics and start planning their career path. Carer exploration camp was held two times.

- No.1 Private Comprehensive University in Korea
- The JoongAng Ilbo assessed 61 four-year universities using 33 different criteria, including number of academic citations, scholarship availability and post-graduation employment rates. Sungkyunkwan was noted for its availability of financial support for professors and students alike. In the past year, the school granted 36.2 billion won ($32 million) in research funds to faculty, the highest in the country. Furthermore, it published the most articles of all Korean universities in international journals. One of its chemical engineering professors, Park Nam-gyu, is the only Korean to be listed on the 2017 Clarivate Citation Laureates list, which is used to identify who is likely to be awarded a Nobel Prize. In JoongAng Ilbo’s survey of 550 recruiters and 550 high school teachers, SNU was selected as having the most desirable new recruits, the greatest potential to grow and being most likely to be recommended to students. But Sungkyunkwan ranked first as the university from which recruiters wanted to recruit new humanities graduates.

- Renewed emphasis on computer education raises questions for teachers
- Computer programming is getting another chance, as information and communications technology grows and coding education will be compulsory by 2018. The growing application rate for computer-related majors at Seoul universities and the number of students who learn computer programming are evidence of this trend. These days, a growing number of liberal arts graduates are also learning coding. As of last year, there were 1,217 information and computer teachers in 2,934 middle schools nationwide, which is an average of 0.4 teachers per school. “As more schools hire computer teachers, some of our graduates have left Samsung or LG to teach at schools,” said Kim Jae-hyun, a professor of computer education at Sungkyunkwan University. “Universities need to increase their number of computer-related majors to match demand by the time coding education becomes compulsory in 2018.

- The University in Korea should speed up the shift toward the Fourth Industrial Revolution by revamping the class insisted Prof. Sang Hoon Bae ,College of Education, SKKU. Prof. Sang Hoon Baem explained at the EBS Documentary prime "University and Quaternary Industrial Revolution" aired on 20th September how to use classes using the Flipped Learning method. "We can't just wait for a mindset to change. Then, it will be too late. We need all the wheels to be turning at the same time because the cycle of innovation is getting shorter and shorter."

- Academic Exchange agreement
- Department of Computer Education in Sungkyunkwan University (Dean: professor Jae Hyun KIM) and Department of Mathematics Education in Sungkyunkwan University (Dean: professor Sang Woon Yoon), has signed an agreement on academic exchange with Dongsung High School on wednesday, August 30. Dongsung High School, located in Hyehwa near our university was selected as centered school of S/W, Science, Mathematics, Creative Convergence by Ministry of Education With this agreement, both institutions can promote exchange on 1) educational cooperation on students' career exploration, 2) infrastructure exchange on student research and education and 3) advance development of both institutions and promotion. Jae Hyun KIM, the dean of Computer Education department stated, "We hope that this could be a chance for both institutions to drive development based on mutual trust and cooperation"

- 2017 Summer Graduation Ceremony
- The 2017 Summer graduation ceremony took place on Agust 25 at Dasan Hall of Economics 32208. The 2017 Summer Graduation Ceremony of College of Education and a Graduate School of education was accomplished successfully. Degree recipients of 2017 Summer graduation was 104. (undergraduate degree 37, master’s degree of general graduate school 12, Ph'D degree of general graduate school 7, master’s degree of graduate school of education 48) Jae Bong YOO, dean of collge of education, encouraged the Graduates to move towards the society.

- SW Education Mentoring Program for Sunin High School Students
- At Incheon Sunin High School’s request, the Sungkyun Software Education Center (Chair: Prof. Jae Hyun KIM) held the SW Mentoring Program at the SKKU Humanities and Social Sciences Campus for students who are currently in their 1st or 2nd year and interested in software. The main subjects were Android programming and web server construction, which are the most popular subjects among high school students. Prof. Seung Hyun LEE at the Sungkyun Software Education Center managed the whole program. On the first day, students learned about the method for producing Android applications, as well as basic JAVA programming for Android programming. On the last day, students tried to make Android apps and web servers by themselves. During the three days of the program, all students enthusiastically participated. They said this program was a good opportunity for them to think about software and that they would like to attend again if the opportunity arises. The Sungkyun SW Education Center will strive to spread the value of software to various social strata.

- Spring semester of 2017 First aid and holding CPR practice
- College of Education in Sungkyunkwan University(Dean JaeBong Yoo) announced that first aid treatment and CPR practice was held at the 7.14 (Fri) 600th Anniversary Memorial Jobyeongdoo Hall. Those planned for all teaching positions must receive at least two first aid measures and CPR practice conducted by the head of the teacher training institution during the course of teacher training course (Article 19 of the Teacher Qualification Examination Order) College of Education has been promoting first aid and CPR practical training for students who attend teachers every semester. CPR practice on this day was conducted for Normal University and 250 teacher taking students. A student who participated in the cardiopulmonary resuscitation practice said, "After education, I was able to learn how to deal with emergency situations, it was a meaningful time as a student at Normal University."

- Summer seminar for private university general council nationwide held in 2017
- The National Council of Private Education University Presidents (President YOO Jae Bong Sungkyunkwan College of Education President and Education Graduate School Director) held 26 of the 2017 Summer Seminar at the Kensington Hotel in Jeju Island from 21st to 22nd in the middle of participating private university college heads In the seminar, Kim Jae-choon (President of KEDI) presented the direction of school education for the future society. Next, Professor Kim Yigyeong (Prof of Joongang University Education) continued on the subject of new government secondary and teacher policy. Participants debated on the direction the Education University Revolution should be going through the Quaternary Industrial Revolution and empathized that changes in teacher training are necessary. On this day the head of the private university urged the burden reduction and the periodic relaxation etc. by guaranteeing the autonomy of the university in the teacher training and improving the index of the evaluation of the teacher training institution.

- 2016 Excellent instructor Award Ceremony of Collge of Education
- On Thursday, July 6th, at 15 p.m, Jaebong YOO(Dean of the College of Education at Sungkyunkwan University and dean of the Graduate School of Education) held 2016 Excellent instructor award ceremony at Dean's office. Jaebong YOO(Dean of the Department of Education), Sangwoon YOON(Dean of department of mathematics education), Siwon RYU(chief of administration) participated in the awards ceremony and Geumseon LEE, a Adjunct professor of mathematics education at the College of Education, was awarded the prize. Professor Geumseon LEE, teacher of GyeongSu elementary school, said “I think By teaching students to fit their level of education, students were highly satisfied.” An official at the College of Education said, " We will try to open a highly satisfactory lecture such as Professor Geumseon LEE's lecture. "
