2. Program Details (Undergraduate)
Undergraduate
The Department of Mathematics Education provides thorough instruction in the basic subjects of modern mathematics including; analysis, algebra, geometry, topology, and statistics and probability, as well as subjects of mathematics education.
Students of this department are competent college students with pride who devote themselves to study with outstanding professors, and cultivate their knowledge and personality, whilst promoting friendship between older and younger alumni. This is achieved through field trips to a model school during summer vacation, an alumni symposium with graduates, and volunteer seminars.
In addition, the department is equipped with a computer lab, a data room, and various other tools and equipment can be used.
Graduate Studies
This department actively reflects topics discussed in the current mathematics education scene of Korea and future-oriented development plans. In other words, it instructs in new textbook contents, learning methods for professors who are currently working to adapt to a rapidly changing educational scene, and various mathematics-related technologies used in classes.
In addition, it carries out many events to facilitate communication between members and to promote academic enthusiasm. It introduces diverse topics and methods that are helpful for actual field classes through inviting mathematics education experts to give seminars, and it provides an opportunity for students to experience and learn how to write a thesis in advance through a graduate thesis presentation. Moreover, it offers an opportunity to learn recent trends of domestic and overseas mathematics education by holding a winter workshop during the winter vacation.
