- Dept. of Computer Education CEN teacher workshop
- On May 18th, Dept. of Computer Education (College of Education) held a workshop session for students to meet with graduates who are currently working as a teacher. The topic of this workshop was “Becoming a teacher” and students got to ask questions and listen to lectures made by alumni. In the first session, alumni students spoke about their experiences preparing to be appointed as a teacher in various disciplines. Students expressed that the presentation was very informative and helpful. In the second session, students and alumni divided up into small groups to have a deeper discussion. Alumni shared their tips and thoughts that they couldn’t share during the presentation.

- 2019 Teachers’ Day Banner Was On Hoam Hall
- College of Education students put up a banner to celebrate Teachers’ Day in the lobby of Hoam Hall, Humanity and Social Sciences Campus. The banner was made with messages that students wrote to their professors with gratitude. One student of College of Education said, “All of us feel thankful to professors not only on Teachers’ Day, but every single day.” College of Education students make banners on every Teachers’ Day, May 15th, as it is meaningful especially to them. With celebrating the day, students can establish concepts of the student-instructor relation and right attitude as instructor.

- SKKU ranked among Top 10 in “THE Asia University Rankings 2019”On May 1st, the Times Higher Education announced the “THE
- On May 1st, the Times Higher Education announced the “THE Asia University Rankings 2019”. 417 universities from 27 countries were evaluated in this ranking. The first place went to Tsinghua University, second place to National University of Singapore, and the third place went to Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. SKKU received 67.7 points and recorded 10th place in the ranking. SKKU rose 3 places in comparison to last year (2018: 13th place). SKKU has received 60.4 in educational conditions, 64.2 in research performance, 74.8 in thesis citation, 96.9 in research & business profit, 48.8 in internationalization. SKKU earned at least 3 more points for each criteria in comparison to last year. SKKU has set the course of development by making “Student Success” as a new keyword. - SKKU produced 71 of Fianl Successful Candidates in 2019 Teacher's Recruitment Exam
- According to the National Education Office's announcement, 71 of the SKKU students have passed the teacher's recruitment exam in 2019. 44 of the candidates belong to College of Education, 2 belong to Graduate School of Education, 10 belong to general departments, and 15 candidates are unable to seperate. College of Educaion(Dean Jae-Hyun Kim), which produced the most number of successful candidates, offers a variety of programs to help increase the rate of teacher recruitment, including student-oriented guidance, mentoring programs with alumni teachers, and mock in-depth interviews for recruitment exams.

- SKKU introduces vehicle to support disabled students
- SKKU will introduce a vehicle equipped with wheel-chair slope to commemorate the “National Day of Disabled Persons” on April 20th. The vehicle was prepared thanks to the donation of Prof. Haeryong Song (Dept. of Media Communications) and the vehicle will operate from 9AM to 6PM in consideration of students' course schedules. Students on wheelchairs experienced many difficulties while moving around the campus due to the high slope. So far, students used their own vehicle or received help of other students to move between classes. It is anticipated that the new vehicle will enhance the mobility of disabled students within the campus.

- 2019 Spring Semester First Aid and CPR Training Program was Held
- College of Education (Dean of College KIM, Jae-Hyoun) held First Aid and CPR Training Program for students taking teaching training courses on March 15th. College of Education is holding the program 4 times a year, as students must participate in at least two sessions in order to get teacher’s license. With the instructor from Jongno-gu Health Center, 164 students completed the training program of 2 hours and 30 minutes this semester. One of the participants said, “It was a great opportunity to learn what I have to do in case of emergency.”

- 2019 Alumni Association Award Ceremony
- The 2019 Alumni Association Award Ceremony took place at the 600th Anniversary Building on April 9th. Total of KRW 273,000,000 was given to 124 students. Many important figures of the university joined the ceremony and encouraged the students. The award was granted in the following order: Alumni Association Global Center Award, Global Center Donor Award, Yun Yongtaek Scholarship, Dongwoon Shin Yoonha Scholarship, Songchun Ryu Dukhee Scholarship, Kyungdong Pharmaceutic Fund Scholarship, Lee Chunggu Scholarship, Seokdam Lee Wankeun Scholarship, Hyochun Cho Kyuhak Scholarship, Park Choonsoon Scholarship, Life Sciences Alumni Scholarship, Korea STS Institute Scholarship, North American Alumni Scholarship, New York Alumni Scholarship, and World Taekwondo Federation scholarship. Chairman of the Alumni Association said, “We have hosted this scholarship award ceremony hoping that students will become a proud Sungkyun talent who will lead the future of the university.” President Dong Ryeol SHIN also delivered words of encouragement, “The students seated here today have the potential to become the leaders of their own areas. I hope you all become proud Sungkyun talents who are willing to share the love to future students.” Student Jiwoon JUNG has recited a letter on behalf of 124 students. “The donors are like parents; they encourage and support the dreams of students. Their support will help us move toward our dreams.”

- 2019 Spring Semester Educational Practical Training Orientation was Held
- College of Education (Dean of College KIM, Jae-Hyoun) held Educational Practical Training Orientation on March 15th. The 90-minute orientation was for 209 students taking teaching training courses, with the lecture about how to properly finish the training. KWON Byeong-Ok, the lecturer of the orientation and the principal of Sunrin Internet High School, instructed the students to have expected attitudes as pre-teachers. He also emphasized that all the students in the training session are ambassadors of SKKU, their behaviors representing the university. The schedule of Educational Practical Training of 2019 Spring Semester is different from school to school, between March and May. Students must participate in the training session of 4 weeks and teach students by themselves in middle or high school in order to get teacher’s license.

- SKKU signs MoU with Multi Campus
- SKKU has signed a MoU with Multi Campus on March 7th to expand industrial-education cooperation. With this agreement, two institutions have established the ground to cooperate in different areas such as global education business, AI-Bio open courses and etc., to achieve school’s new motto, “Student Success”. Last year, SKKU has opened SKKUx (www.skkux.org) to promote open courses. President Dong Ryeol SHIN said, “SKKU is becoming an entrepreneurial university with the capacity to encompass the needs of the companies. We will promote the development and expansion of courses relevant to the 4th industry such as AI and Bio to create social value and support “Student Success”.”

- 2019 Freshmen Camp was Successfully Held
- 2019 Freshmen Camp, the very first program for 2019 SKKU freshmen, was held on Feb. 27th to Mar. 1st. After the 2019 Entrance Celebration at Suseong Hall of Natural Sciences Campus, students of each college moved to their camp sites. College of Education had its camp at Beache Palace in Boryeong-si. 191 students(127 freshmen, 64 seniors), deans of the college and staff members participated in the program. The camp went along successfully with programs such as introduction of majors and clubs, gender equality education and so on. One of the freshmen said “I felt nervous at first as this is my first time participating in university program, but I enjoyed the camp a lot thanks to the comforting atmosphere.”
