The intention of this course is to provide various comtemporary theories for counseling and psychotherapy such as object relation theory, ACT/DBT cognitive behavior therapy, jung/adler theory, existential therapy and gestalt therapy et al. The learning experience will be provided for the application of these theories to various areas of comtemporary counseling area such as case conceptualization, psycho-drama, organizational/company/school counseling, parent education, trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, et al.

In this course, students can have a chance to embrace various counseling therapy theories for people working on actual business field or organizational settings. Based on characteristics of business and organizational environment, this course provides not only realistic but also practical counseling interventions and skills for main issues related to stress, relatiomship, and mental health isseus etc..

In this course, the advanced supervision experience for counseling cases will be provided for doctoral level practices with the application of principles and skills of various counseling theories to counseling ceases.
COED037 Trauma Counseling and Psychotherapy 2 4 Major Master 1-5 Korean Yes
The intention of this course is to learn about human being’s psychological-social behaviors, addiction, and self-destructive behaviors as a aftermath’s result of trauma. Additionally, various advanced comtemporary theories and techniques for counseling and psychotherapy related to trauma will be provided. Furthermore, a learning opportunity for counseling and psychotherapy techniques such as mindfulness, yoga, EMDR, movement therapy and will be provided.

Students are trained to understand human view, concepts, and techniques of each theory of counseling, and to understand cases in consideration of client's demographic characteristics, appeal problems, background information, strengths and diversity. Furthermore, based on each theory of counseling, there is a goal of this class to train competent counselors by conceptualizing the counseling cases presented and training them to establish effective counseling strategies.

This course cultivates and supports research partnerships between our undergraduates and faculty. It offers the chance to work on cutting edge research—whether you join established research projects or pursue your own ideas. Undergraduates participate in each phase of standard research activity: developing research plans, writing proposals, conducting research, analyzing data and presenting research results in oral and written form. Projects can last for an entire semester, and many continue for a year or more. SKKU students use their CGS(Creative Group Study) experiences to become familiar with the faculty, learn about potential majors, and investigate areas of interest. They gain practical skills and knowledge they eventually apply to careers after graduation or as graduate students.

Solution Focused Interviewing skills are totally different from the traditional interviewing skills. It doesn't follow the traditional problem solving process: problem definition, assessment, intervention planning, and intervention. In trying to solve clients' problem the traditional approach depends much on the knowledge of professional workers. On the other hand solution fucused interviewing skills put great emphasis on the interviewee's perspective, experience, and strenths in an attempt to find out solutions for the problems. Another merit of the solution focused therapy is that it is relatively easy to learn the practice skills.
